ROSE CHERIAN VACHAPARAMBIL

Rose has joined us in England to attend the University of Northumbria to study for an MSc in Health Management, a year’s programme. This degree prepares people to work in the health sector, innovating, implementing and evaluating health programmes. This will also give her professional upgrading in managerial skills, and in areas of personnel and finance. There is a research part to the master’s degree. Rose already has a master’s degree in economics. She has worked in the community health department of a former MMS hospital in Mundakayam and has been involved in the formation of credit unions and children’s and women’s groups.

For six years Rose worked in Madhya Pradesh with Korku tribal people, forming self help groups and initiating a watershed project www.medicalmissionsisters.org/healing/archive_frame.htm

She spent four years coordinating the local diocesan social service society and at the same time, obtained a degree in law. From 2002 to 2005 she practiced law in a District court.

Although now living rather a long way from Medical Mission Sisters in London , we look forward to seeing Rose when she returns for the university vacations.
