Mission is about proclaiming and living the Good News that we have from Jesus of Nazareth about God’s love for the whole of creation and God’s dream for creation that Jesus called the Kingdom of God. For us as Medical Mission Sisters It is about working for that life to the full for all that Jesus was sent to give and to participate in Jesus' healing mission.

Mission is about being sent, going out to others, going beyond ourselves, our own interests, our own comfortable surroundings to those in need. It is about crossing boundaries – the boundaries of our Church, culture and value systems. We first listen to see how and where God’s Spirit is already working and then move to follow that lead.

Most of us from England have gone overseas, to be Good News for people who have not had the privileges that we have had, many of whom are very poor and so their health is particularly at risk. Sometimes Christians have been very small minority We had to learn a new language and culture. We make skills available to the people that help to improve their health or escape from poverty to a fuller life. Many of us are working for justice together with and in support of those made poor.

Crossing boundaries means accepting differences. It means entering into genuine friendship with those on the other side of the boundary. It means entering into dialogue and being prepared to be changed by it. It means allowing myself to be a stranger and a guest. It means accepting powerlessness very often. It means living on the margins.
